Recently I was invited to the newest art exhibition at the National Gallery of Art, Afro Atlantic Histories. This gallery was curated between the NGA, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo. It has several different sections ranging from the early history of slavery to cultural similarities between enslaved people in the US and those in Brazil to the modern take on African Americans taking back their voices. The exhibit is so powerful and makes you think in a different way. It will be here until July 17th and I highly recommend going!
Art Exhibit Outfit
I had no clue what to wear to an art exhibit debut so I went with this look that I have had sitting in my closet for ages. It’s definitely very fall/winter appropriate but with DC’s spring, this worked out perfectly! I did google what people wear to art exhibits but I did not feel like overnighting an outfit. I got the slip skirt at Aritzia in November and it was marked down by $6. What a steal, I know lol. The sweater is from Amazon and is inspired by the Free People version. I bought the Free People sweater tunic however it was so itchy I had to return it. The Amazon version is definitely much softer and stays soft even after washing. The bag is from Zara and the shoes are my very old Aquazzura Cage pumps. Linking similar items!
I would say heels may not be the best thing to wear, but they make the outfit so why not take the L. One hack I have is to spray liquid lidocaine on your feet before putting heels on! I got mine from Target and it’s been a lifesaver!
