Background of My hair:
So my hair is dyed if you can’t tell. I go about every 6 months for a Balayage, and in between I go for toner appointment. This means I need to do a lot for my hair care. My look to go blonde depends on my mood; Currently, my inspo pics are that of Kim K in 2016/17 when she was blonde. I loved that look on her! For my toner, I typically stick to getting rid of as much brassiness as I can, and anything to usually lighten it. This doesn’t include the time I went full on brunette last September – which I happened to love and miss – but everyone else likes me blonde so… Here we are. Hopefully my next balayage will get us closer to the blonde I want!
My hair color and cut are typically separate. I’ve been going to get my hair cut by the same lady since high school! I try to get my hair trimmed every 3 months, but the last time she cut my hair so short (and I feel uneven) so it may not happen for a while. Does anyone else have a weird attachment to their hair?! My hair doesn’t grow quickly either, so I’m really hesitant about how much I cut off.
More recently, my hair has been just so weird. It gets oily so quick no matter how much I washed it. I typically try to go about 2-3 days without washing. Depending on what time of year it is, I can sometimes go longer. I’ve had to tweak my hair care because of this! Another problem that I’ve had recently has been the fact that my hair is falling out more than usual. I spoke to my doctors and it’s basically because I have a really bad iron deficiency and I’m lacking vitamin D, so trying to do better with those!
My Fav Hair Care Products:
I like olaplex, but I’ve realized that’s definitely a good product for summer when my hair is in the sun more. Recently, I’ve been really into the Biolage shampoo and conditioner. It definitely makes me feel like my hair is being washed and it feels so good afterwards! They have a few different versions depending on your needs, mine is the one for color treated hair.
I try to use purple shampoo and a deep conditioner once a week; try because I only wash my hair twice a week so I wanna make sure it doesn’t feel like I haven’t cleaned it. This purple shampoo is one I’ve used for over a year and really does the trick! As soon as this bottle is empty, I’m going to use a different one because I feel like my hair really gets used to the products I use. So I would say my hair care really has a few different shampoos in the routine 🙂
For deep conditioners, my coworker recommended this one to me and it’s done a pretty good job! It smells amazing, and really helps moisturize my hair, which is well needed with all the bleach. I typically use more of this right after I get my hair balayaged; maybe a few times after I tone my hair.
Pre-styling:
After I wash my hair, I’ve been really, really into this R&co leave-in conditioner. It smells sooo good and really feels like it’s hydrating my hair even more than usual. For heat protectants, I honestly just use the ones that come out of my allure glam box. The one I’ve been using recently is … I think with combination of my Revlon blow-drying brush and this spray, my hair definitely doesn’t smell like it’s been burned to a crisp. Otherwise, my travel one – and one I come back to the most – is the Chi Style thing. It actually smells good and I feel like it does protect my hair; I’ve used Tressemme in the past and I feel like the scent of the product just varies too much for my taste.
Post Styling:
So after I style my hair I use 2 things in particular: the first is this super old tresemme anti frizz styling product. We’ve had it in my house for so long but it really helps put some shine back into my hair and tame some frizz. I also use this Keratase Elixir mist; tbh, not sure what it does for my hair but I only apply it to my ends and I feel like it helps seal them up and add some moisture back. Sometimes if I want my hair to have some extra volume, I use this Oribe texturizing powder; but I feel like I don’t use it correctly. I’m always looking for more things that can help my hair tho, so if you guys have any reccs, let me know!
