How To: Style a Pastel Blue Suit ft. Parinaaz

March 20, 2019

Hi Everyone! I don’t know about you, but this weather is driving me crazy. I don’t like wishy-washy people, and I hate wishy-washy weather. Technically, we’re in Spring, so I’ve been trying to find some Spring-like colors to wear!

This is another one of my favorite suits! I got it made from my phabi’s boutique back in August 2017. The chunni has hand embroidered dragonfly’s all over. We were trying to figure out what animal to add and then settled on this! The edges of the chunni also have cutwork on it which just adds a little extra something.

This salwar has a cutwork poncha; the embroidery is done in zardozi I believe. I love the intricacy of the cutwork: it was definitely a show-stopper when I wore out to a wedding of a family friend. The kameez is very simple compared to the chunni and salwar. It has just some gotha on the khera and buttons on the neckline. I do wish the back was just a bit deeper and with a dori, but it’s ok!

I paired this look with these meenakari earrings in navy. I got these from a vendor at the Heritage India Festival at the Dulles Expo Center. I do end up getting some of my heavier/most worn pieces from these vendors. There a quite a few from out of town, and even those who are local hidden gems. These earrings in particular stood out to me and just completed the whole look to give it a wedding ready vibe.

I choose to show the 2 types of shoes I would wear/have worn with this suit. The first are a pair of jutti’s from Kirni Designs; the ghungroos and peacocks just add more detail to the ponche. Heels make this look just more elevated I feel like. The jutti’s give more of a sweet vibe but the heels give more of a sophisticated/don’t mess with me type of vibe.

All contact info for my phabi’s boutique will be on my insta! Please shoot me a dm on there if she isn’t tagged for some reason.
