I have a soft spot in my heart for skincare. I feel like since I was younger, I didn’t have any issues with my skin until school started, which led to an increased use of skincare products. Some helped and some didn’t, but I feel like now I am at a point where I know my skin well enough to get/try the right products!
The Basics:
My skin type can be described as combination-oily, acne prone. My skin used to be really, really dry in high school but now it’s the exact opposite. My t-zone is a level of oily I don’t even understand lol. If I go make-up free, my skin tends to get a lot oiler than it would with makeup on; literally have no idea how that even works. Sometimes parts of my face do get dry. Lately it’s been my under-eyes, but in the past my forehead by hairline, my jawline, and my nose have gotten severely dry. There’s a few ways I combat this, the main being use vaseline! It locks in all the moisture and I usually see results in a few days.
Facewashes:
I wash my face twice a day – because of my oily skin. In the mornings I love to use Ole Henricksen’s Find Your Balance oil control cleanser. I feel so refreshed after, like I’m actually wiping off the oil on my face! At night I use a combo of facewashes: I use this one from Mario Badescu to get rid of any makeup that may be left. Then I use this acne control cleanser from Clean and Clear. I noticed not using an acne-preventative cleanser will make my skin break out more. I’ve used this one for about 3 years and really like it! Every other day I exfoliate! I’ve noticed how my skin reacts when I don’t and I think this helps sooo much. Recently, I’ve been using this exfoliator by Ole Henricksen and I love the smell! It also heats up when you rub it in so it’s like a mini skin treatment.
Serums:
I love Kiehl’s products so much! I started looking into serums 2 years ago as I wanted something extra moisturizing in the morning. I love the Daily Reviving Concentrate to give me some extra moisture and glow. I still use my moisturizer on top to lock in any hydration. At night I use the Midnight Recovery Oil to again add moisture back into my skin. The main reason I use Kiehls over any other brands is because it doesn’t break me out! I tried the origins one last spring but I broke out within 2 days of using it. It had to go!
Creams:
I used to use eye creams regularly then stopped when I first started working. Since October, my under eyes are darker, more sunken in, and I had the worst dry skin under my right eye. I picked up Drunk Elephant’s C-Tango eye cream from Sephora and within 3 days my eyes were better after using it morning and night! Not to mention, it is vegan and has a lot of good stuff in it. I am planning on trying their moisturizer after hearing so many good reviews. I have used St. Ives Collagen moisturizer for the past 2 years, and honestly, I thought it did great! It was so hydrating, and not oily or greasy at all. But, I feel like I should try something with a bit more kick! I got a sample of the Tatcha moisturizer, and if you have dry skin, I highly recommend it! I literally use less than a pea size and my whole face is covered.
Treatments:
So I have gotten the Hydrafacial a few times and lovedddd the result! But they are literally soo expensive, my wallet can’t handle it. I will be going in March for another and hope to be consistent with them! Other than that, I rarely mask and if I do, I use the Kiehl’s masks. I love their turmeric and cranberry exfoliating one as well as the Cilantro and Orange Pollution Defender! I mask maybe once a month/month and half. I am not very good at keeping up with them! Again, trying to be better but I am so bad at it.
I will try to update my routine once it gets warmer a.k.a. May. I try not to switch up my products unless I feel that they are not working.
