Do you know what to wear to Disney? I didn’t! The travel/style guides I saw didn’t give me all the info I wanted, so here is my version!
If you didn’t know, I spent Christmas break in Orlando and it was so much fun! This is my third time to Disney and I feel like every time it’s a whole new experience. I went with my family this time, and it was very different. Also, if you didn’t know, Christmas in Orlando is probably one of the busiest times to go.
What to Wear:
I’ve been in April and December, and I can tell you now that jeans are perfectly fine in December. Even though it was warm throughout the day, it would be chilly in the mornings and evenings. I bought this Express cardigan with me that I re-wore! For all my Disney outfits, the ears were the best accessory that tied the look together! Here’s a list of what I would wear to Disney again:
- Cardigans – something light for spring and chunky for fall
- Pullovers/Hoodies
- Long Sleeve tees – love a good henley!
- Ripped Jeans
- Coats – basic wool! saw a lot of chic people wearing them around
- Jackets – similar to my green one below or my fav Burberry
What to wear to Disney – Spring/Summer
If you go in the Spring (starting April) you can wear shorts! It was so hot when I went then that shorts and a tee were perfect. At night, it would get a little chilly; so a cardigan or light weight sweater would be perfect. I wore skirts out at night and it wasn’t a problem. However, I do recommend a pair of jeans just in case it’s really cold!
Let’s talk footwear quickly. I would definitely recommend wearing sneakers to the park. Like running sneakers. Bring an extra pair of cute shoes with you for pictures when you take them. A backpack is great in this case because you can hold everything and carry it easier than a crossbody!
What to wear to Disney – Fall/Winter
For winter, I think bringing a wool coat is fine! I should have bought a better jacket, even a teddy coat would have helped. My sweaters felt too thin, and I honestly was over all my outfits. I thought it was going to be much warmer, but Orlando’s winter is like the beginning of fall in VA. Layering would be the key in this case!
In regards to footwear for the cooler months, DON’T WEAR UGGS!! Your feet will get hot and they do not have arch support to last 11 miles of walking! I love my uggs, but they would not have held up had I worn them. Sneakers again are key, or booties if you like the look!
What to Do – Disney :
This time, I went to all the other parks Disney has, other than Hollywood Studios. We first went to Epcot – which has my look below. France was my highlight because of the shopping of course! The great thing about all the parks is that you can drink openly!
Animal Kingdom
Honestly, I loved the whole park but I think Africa and Asia are the must sees. We waited for 2 hours for the safari ride, and it was a lot of fun for me. If you ask my sister, she would definitely disagree. Like I said earlier, busy season means long wait times! Also, dole whip!!!! Literally had it 4 times alone just in Animal Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom
Cinderella’s castle is a staple! But I would definitely say that Main Street is my favorite. Hopefully I’ll be going back in 2019 so I will definitely try to get better pics! The rides are always crazyyy busy so I highly recommend getting the fast pass as far in advance as you can. We experienced the longest wait time for Snow White and the 7 Dwarves ride; but it was well worth it!
Other Info:
I know this may be long, but when I was researching Disney/Universal stuff, a lot of it was from years ago or for mostly family oriented trips. The past few times I have been have been with my friends so I think this info may be more helpful!
Transport:
We rented a car and it was a great way to get around to see Orlando. Unless you’re staying on a Disney Resort, this is the best way to go. You do have to pay for parking for both Disney and Universal however.
Nightlife:
Downtown Orlando is amazing! So many cool speak-easys and just different bars in general. We didn’t go to any clubs but there are places to check out! Next time we will be going to a few new places hopefully!
Food/Where to Eat:
Ok so the one place I cannot stress enough is KeKe’s Breakfast! We ate there 3/5 days when we went in April. The food is amazing and not badly priced! I would definitely make a stop here! At the parks, we ate at the quick kiosks: not a big deal for me but I know people don’t like them sometimes. We did get breakfast at the Crystal Palace when I went in April, and that I cannot recommend enough!
Timing:
If you want to get pictures at the parks with no else there, go as early as you can! We got to Magic Kingdom at 8 am when I went in April. We stayed until 10 pm if that puts it in perspective. This time going with kids, we never made it to any park before 11 am. I would say if you can get everyone out of the house early, stay until lunch and then take a break! I would recommend coming back to the parks around maybe 5/6 so that you can see the closing parades.
