Spring Trends with Parinaaz

Being the Pink Patola means I need to have some idea or insight into what spring trends are hot not just for my regular wardrobe, but also my Punjabi clothes. One of the trends I am most excited about is bright colors for Spring! I’m so happy to showcase this trend with the help of my phabi’s boutique, Parinaaz Collections.

This fuschia suit is soo gorgeous and has the prettiest detailing. It has zardozi work on the sleeves and ponche. It’s also supposed to be a Pakistani style salwar: so it should be tied higher and has a different look than a semi or full patiala salwar. I can’t do full patiala salwars but I know a lot of people are a fan of them. This suit is a good fit for those trying to branch out as it has a narrow poncha!

Some suit basics for you in case you didn’t know: salwars have ponche. Ponche are basically the hem or finishing of a salwar. Only salwars have ponche. That’s why you don’t hear about palazzos or shararas’ having ponche. Ponche can be in a few styles: the most common style is when they are 1.5 inches wide and attached to the salwar. There can also be narrow ponche which are much higher on the salwar – 4 inches or more – and are not as wide on the foot either. My suit has a narrow poncha, which I actually happen to like!

Now that we’ve resolved that! The chunni for this suit was driving me a bit crazy because I struggle with chunni settings. I wanted to pin it but thought’d I’d have better luck keeping it as is and I did not succeed. The chunni is Chanderi and has some work done only on the short ends. The jewelry I choose to wear with this is Polki jewelry. I think the bronzy look goes well with the embroidery! My set is from Kirni Designs, it comes with a matching tikka which I think would be perfect to wear for a morning wedding!
